Why solar panels may need cleaning
Solar modules generate from the light that reaches their cells. Anything sitting on the glass — road and construction dust, pollen, bird droppings, leaf litter, cement dust from nearby work, or sticky residue after unseasonal rain — reduces the light getting through. Thin, even dust is usually less of a problem than concentrated deposits, because a single heavily covered area can drag down a whole string. Cleaning simply removes that obstruction; it does not change the rating or condition of the panels underneath.
When cleaning is worth considering
- Panels visibly grey, streaked or patchy from the ground
- Bird droppings or nesting activity on or near the array
- Construction, road work or a cement/stone unit nearby
- A long dry, dusty stretch with no rainfall

Why unsafe cleaning methods can damage a system
Module glass carries an anti-reflective coating that abrasive pads, scrapers and strong detergents can dull or scratch permanently. High-pressure jets can force water past frame seals and into junction boxes. Walking directly on modules can cause micro-cracks that are invisible from the roof but reduce output. Cleaning in the middle of a hot afternoon puts cold water on very hot glass. Our crew works with soft brushes, plain water, controlled water volumes and proper roof access instead.
Residential cleaning
Smaller arrays, tighter roof access and often a single string. Visits are quick, and the main value is removing deposits and getting a second pair of eyes on the wiring and structure while we are up there.
Commercial & industrial cleaning

What cleaning does not fix
Cleaning only addresses what is on the glass. It will not resolve shading from a new structure or tree, inverter faults or derating, loose DC connections, damaged MC4 connectors, string configuration problems, earthing issues or panel degradation. If your generation dropped suddenly, or stays low after a clean, the right next step is performance diagnostics, not another cleaning visit.
